Handmade Paper and wood Red-Billed Streamertail, (also known as the ‘Doctor bird’) sculpture is life size at approx 25cm in Length, (tip of beak to tip of tail feathers).

The whole piece takes around 55 hours to make and is a hand carved wooden body onto which around 500 scissor cut paper feathers are individually layered up to create the piece you see in the pictures.

The feathers are then painted in acrylic paints, some iridescent, to recreate the shine and vibrancy of the real bird. The piece is finished in a mat varnish to protect from dust, moisture and discolouring.

The hummingbird pictured has a brass hoop installed in its lower back for easy hanging from anything you like. There is an option to have it installed inside a bell jar too, for extra protection.
